Our Editorial Approach
Insur0x is an independent insurance information site. We are not licensed
insurance agents, brokers, or financial advisors. We do not sell insurance
policies. Our guides are built to help U.S. renters and drivers understand
coverage options and compare estimated costs using publicly available data.
Where Our Information Comes From
We compile and summarize data from:
- U.S. state departments of insurance (.gov websites)
- Insurance Information Institute (iii.org)
- National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) consumer resources
- Published rate analyses from established insurance research publishers
(including NerdWallet and ValuePenguin, cited in individual articles)
We do not fabricate rates. When we show dollar amounts, they are estimates
derived from these sources or from standard industry sample profiles (below).
Our Sample Profile (What Rate Estimates Mean)
Most rate comparisons on Insur0x use a standard sample renter or driver
profile so readers can compare companies fairly. Unless an article states
otherwise, renters insurance estimates are based on:
- Single renter, age 30
- $30,000 personal property coverage
- $100,000 liability coverage
- $500 deductible
- No prior insurance claims
- Renter-occupied apartment (not a house owner)
Auto insurance estimates (where shown) typically use:
- Driver age 30 (or stated age for young-driver guides)
- Clean driving record
- Full coverage or liability-only as labeled in each table
- One vehicle, state minimum or stated limits
Your actual premium will differ based on your age, ZIP code, credit history
(where allowed by state law), claims history, coverage limits, and insurer.
How We Rank and Recommend Companies
We do not accept payment for higher rankings. When we label a company
“Best for…” or “Cheapest in [State],” we base that on:
- Estimated rates for the sample profile above
- State-level availability
- Published customer complaint ratios (NAIC, where available)
- Coverage options relevant to that state (e.g., wildfire, hail, flood gaps)
Rankings are editorial opinions for educational purposes — not professional advice.
How Often We Update
Insurance rates and laws change frequently. We review guides when:
- State minimum requirements change
- Major rate studies are published
- Readers report outdated information via contact@insur0x.com
Each article shows its own “Last updated” date when applicable.
Limitations You Should Know
- We cannot quote or bind insurance policies
- Estimates are not offers of insurance
- Always verify coverage and price with a licensed agent or insurer before buying
